Germany was one of the first countries to enter the EU, already in 1958. Germany's previous currency was the D-Mark, but it was replaced by the Euro in 2002.

Tip! In Germany, using cash is common, even for larger purchases. Please note that most shops are closed on Sundays. You can often pay with card too and there are plenty of ATMs.
